National Diabetes and Diabetic Foot Programme Pakistan

A major nationwide diabetes and diabetic foot control and prevention programme launched by Baqai Institute of Diabetology & Endocrinology (Baqai Medical University) with the collaboration of World Diabetes Foundation.

National Diabetes & Diabetic Foot Programme has been launched with an aim to create awareness regarding diabetes, to initiate the prevention of diabetes and to improve the existing status of diabetes care and the diabetic foot care in Pakistan. The objectives would be achieved through educational and awareness strategies and through provision of training to medical and allied professionals.

It is a joint venture of World Diabetes Foundation and Baqai Institute of Diabetology & Endocrinology (Baqai Medical University) and Prof Abdul Basit, Director, Baqai Institute of Diabetology & Endocrinology is leading the management team as the Project Director. The project will mainly focus to train post-graduate diabetes-care physicians, diabetes educators and diabetic foot-care assistants and to establish a net work of diabetic foot clinics, across the country.
