Till his retirement, he served at Dow University of Health Sciences, Karachi as a professor of medicine and the head of department. He established the National Institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology, and served there as director. He also started an MSc program for doctors in Diabetes and Endocrinology, a two-year diploma, recognized by the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council. At present, he is working as Professor of Medicine and Head of Department, as well as Director of Sir Syed Institute of Diabetes and Endocrinology, at Sir Syed College of Medical Sciences, Karachi. He has experience teaching and working at the University of Glasgow, the Royal Infirmary Glasgow, DMC, Dow University, JPMC Karachi, Chandka Medical College Larkana, Peoples Medical College Nawabshah. and he is a senior examiner for the FCPS (Medicine and Endocrine) at College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan and of MD examination at various universities. He is President of Heath Times Academy. He is a member of the Diabetes UK, Caledonian Society of Endocrinology, Scotland, and International Society for Impotence Research, Denmark, AACE, among others.
