Tasnim Ahsan is an Endocrinologist and Internist. Graduate of Dow Medical College (1978), Completed postgraduate training in UK and obtained MRCP(UK) in 1983; subsequently awarded fellowship of all 3 Royal Colleges of UK. Served in Dow Medical College for 5 years as Assistant Professor and then served in the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for 24 years. Retired from JPMC in 2015, as Executive Director, Professor and Head of Department of Medicine. Conferred the title of Emeritus Professor in 2018. Established two new sub-specialties in the Department of Medicine at JPMC i.e., Endocrinology and Rheumatology. Both departments are accredited by CPSP for postgraduate training in these disciplines. Founder member of Pakistan Endocrine Society and Medicine & Endocrine Foundation. This NGO rebuild Medical Unit II in 2001 and continues to support all spheres of its activity. Establish another Institute of Diabetes Endocrinology & Metabolism (MIDEM) in the private sector, in 2017. It is purposed to deliver multi-disciplinary, standard of care therapy to patients, train professionals undertake research and engage in preventive medicine ventures. Published numerous articles in national and international journals. Serves on Editorial Advisory Boards of journals and reviews scientific papers and research proposals. Served on the Diabetes Advisory Boards of various pharmaceutical companies and as Dean of the Faculty of Endocrinology at CPSP. Has mentored over 100 Internists and 7 Endocrinologists so far.
